I’ve decided to split up my best of 2017 blog posts into different sections of the day mostly because I’m too lazy to narrow down my favorite photos any more haha! But really, I’ve loved going through each part of the day to tell a whole bunch of stories all at once. I absolutely LOVE the getting ready part of the day because there’s always so much excitement during this first part of the day. It’s also when I get the most time to take lots of really pretty detail pictures, which is so much fun for me. So here are just a FEW of my favorite getting ready details and moments from my 2017 weddings! If you get to the end, you’ll find a few tips from me for this part of the day! 🙂
Tips for effortlessly beautiful getting ready photos:
- Choose a location with lots of big windows or natural light.
- Gather all of your details (dress, shoes, jewelry, invitation suite, rings (don’t forget the groom’s too!), etc.) and keep them in one place to save time gathering them while you’re trying to get hair/makeup done
- Get a wooden hanger (doesn’t have to be a fancy custom one, just something besides the most common plastic ones) for your dress
- Allow at least 1 hour for photography during this part of the day (maybe more if you have lots of details or your dress takes a while to put on!)
- Keep your getting ready area free of clutter for cleaner images
- Have your bridesmaids and whoever else is helping to put on the dress be ready to go in their own dresses before you are ready to get into yours.
- Be sure to give yourself enough space! Don’t try to cram 10 of your best friends into a tiny hotel room. A fun idea can be to rent a cool Airbnb for the night instead of your standard hotel room! That gives you extra room, and sometimes you can get some super cool styled spaces that way.
- Take your time and don’t stress! 🙂
